Feb 22 2016

HEYyyyyy erryone! Elder Johnson here. Happy as can be in the only mission with a smile in it! Comayagüela. #thatswhatimtalkinabout anyways. Good week. Sunday in the morn with investigators coming to church kinda went wrong but we recovered in the afternoon and have 2 new baptismal dates!!! First is a brother of a recent convert that got baptized by Elder Paiz and he is just awesome, he´s 8 and he learns really fast and wants to be baptized haha. That’s forrrrr the 6th of march! Then Jose David is the other and he is mute and he is the son of Hermana Jina who just barely got baptized! He is awesome and it´s different and pretty tricky teaching him but he loves church and has no problem with any of the commandments. He is a really pure-in-the-heart kid. That’s for the 12th of March! Bday present whoo!! SPEAKING OF BDAYS… HAPPY BDAY TO THE MOST AMAZING TEENAGER IN THE WORLD!! MY SISTA MY SISTA MY SISTA SAVVY BO BABBY FANANA FO FANNY ME MI MO MANNY.. SAVVY!! HAPPY BDAY SIS! LOVE YOU SO MUCH!!!!!! STOP GETTING SO OLD AND PRETTY! Best pic ever of Sav is in Florida when she was just a chunker laughing with 2 teeth! The best! Love you sissy.
Then other news Familia Osorto is AMAZING!! There the one´s that found us and she just moved from Choluteca and she's a member but her husband isn’t and her husband is SOOO gonna get baptized! It might take a while but man they're the greatest. The husband is Gustavo and he's never really gone to church and he came last week and liked it a lot but this week he didn’t go for a really dumb thing that happened because he was ready to go to church and basically misunderstanding happened between him and his wife because his wife was bringing the car around and he thought she was leaving him because he wasn´t all the way ready and they were late and so ya… anyways we have a FHE with them tonight with a diff. fam. THEN in other news FAMILIA PORTILLO IS GETTING MARRIED ON FRIDAY!! AHHAHHAHAAHAHAHHGGIUNDSN !! BUTTTT we don´t know when they are getting baptized because she was getting baptized this Saturday but she just had her baby yesterday haha but yay! Im so happy! We get to go too!
And we are working real well and the beginning of this week I was really frustrated with some things but on Saturday (our Pday) Elder Bingham and I had a talk and it was just one of the greatest talks ever. We talked about change and how sometimes you can see missionaries come home and you can see a HUGE change in them. But then there are others that were faithful, great missionaries but didn’t have such a drastic change. And why? All we hear about is change and change and change on the mission and we want to change! But sometimes we think the change is always on the outside and we want others to see this change. But sometimes we forget and whats most important is the change in YOUR heart. Just like in the Book of Mormon. Constantly and almost every page it talks about the heart of the people. And we should take it like that. That although sometimes missionaries don´t have such a huge change on the outside they should be changed on the inside and they should know for themselves that they are changed and that is what matters. Because it wouldn’t make a lot of sense if God called you to a place, knowing that you're the type of person that you are and he wants you to use your attributes and personality to help these people, and then change all that! Doesn’t make a lot of sense. BUT you should change and constantly be changing in your heart and constantly submitting to the will of the Lord to become what he knows and wants you to become. So don´t change who you are, but change who you are.. makes sense?;)
Thennn along with that I learned one night this week in prayer about the importance of the Atonement on the mission. I was praying and just remembering all that’s happened here and I kinda asked myself why haven’t I been ¨perfect¨ here on the mission or why have I made so many mistakes and why did I do a certain thing and why were some of my companions so hard and why couldn’t I help them more and all that jazz and it kinda hit me really strong the answer. I think before, not knowing ANYTHING about the mission, I thought I was gonna go, sure have a hard difficult mission like all, but as well that it was gonna be perfect. Where I would be so caught up in the Spirit I would never make a mistake or do something wrong and let the natural man show and all that. And the Lord answered me and made me realize that if it would have been a perfect mission I wouldn’t have been able to appreciate, use, understand, learn about, and love the Atonement like I´ve been able to do and like the Lord wanted me to. It was one of those moments that change you and change your heart and make you wanna be better and at the same time you can feel God´s love so much.
So that is what happened this week. I love this Gospel. I know this is the true church of Christ and my friend asked me why I am Mormon this week and one of the reasons was because the true church of Christ was restored through the prophet Joseph Smith and if it wasn´t restored I wouldn´t be able to have a testimony like I do of the Atonement of Jesus Christ. And we wouldn´t be able to use, appreciate, understand and learn about it like we should. Another reason is because families can be together forever.:)
But this week I am thankful for prayer, for the ability to talk and talk things out, for a bed, for the office experience, for last minute contacts, for my compa Elder Burnham, for Elder Bingham, for the Atonement, for letters, for laughter, for hard times, for good times, for chocolate, and for my sista sista Savvy who's gonna be 14!!
